When we started AvantGarde Search in January 2019, our number one aim was to be «something new» in what has become a conservative recruitment industry.  It has been 4 incredible years and I am so grateful for all the support we have had from clients, partners, media, organizations, family and friends.

 

After four years of growth here in Norway, I am now more ready than ever to really try and scale our company. The beauty of recruitment is that it requires only a small amount of cash-flow to ensure growth and has very little risk attached to it. The initial aim is to become one of the Nordics leading technology recruitment and executive search business, but we also see great opportunities outside of the Nordics, something in which we may consider after the initial 2-year growth plans in the Nordics.


So! In H2 of 2022 we decided that it was time to go from being a start-up to a growth case. This was necessary if we wanted to continue to grow. Our senior staff, together with some external advisors, created what we called The Platform Project. The aim was to ensure a platform that would allow for growth during the next 3-5 years. 


I would argue that we have never been in a healthier position, as far as potential growth is concerned, and this is the number one reason that we for the first time look to get external investors on board.

 

My career started in recruitment soon after finishing my degree in International Business in The UK. I started as a Trainee Recruiter for SThree PLC. At the time, SThree had 5 offices and ca. 250 employees. They went public in 2006 and by the time I left in 2012 they had 63 offices and 2500+ staff world-wide. What Russel Clements and the other co-founders achieved was highly inspirational and it is worth noting that they achieved this with 100% organic growth.


You may have read the interview with me in Dagens Næringsliv about my mental health challenge of being Bipolar 2. Placing focus on mental health is important to us in AvantGarde Search, and personally my aim is to continue to show that mental health challenges will not stop you building a healthy business. There are two reasons why I mention this. It is important for me to be honest with potential investors and I like to think that the energy and motivation I get from this has been of great benefit throughout my career.

 

My promise to investors is a team that is incredible hard working, caring and loving, good at their jobs, and all passionate about changing the recruitment industry and society for the better.
