Recruitment in Norway - why anti-agile?

“Everything” within Norwegian tech and business in general is well on the way of becoming super-agile. We have agile software development, agile product development, agile organizations, agile projects, agile teams and much more.

But! Recruitment still seems to be stuck in the old ways of doing things, and in many cases being carried out as rigid and anti-agile as it can be. Why?

One of my theories is that there has been put incredible high sums of money and time into developing tools and processes within the field of recruitment and thus companies and recruitment companies have a problem moving away from this.

 

Since we started in 2019, we have aimed to be the driver for more modern and agile recruitment services. Of our 500+ hires at both management and technical level, more or less 90% of these hires has had an agile approach in relation to how we have worked with our clients.

So, what does agile recruitment mean? Let us take the 12 agile principles and put them into a recruitment perspective.

  • Client satisfaction through early and continuous delivery of high value talent

  • Embracing change based on learning and review of candidates

  • Delivering candidates in short time frames and as soon as possible

  • Work closely together with our clients in short sprints and step away from the long-list / short-list practises

  • Building projects for and around highly motivated individuals and include all stakeholders int the process

  • Frequent face-to-face updates with Client & Candidate

  • Candidates are primary measure of success

  • Promoting sustainable processes & development

  • Constant pace and momentum

  • Simplicity is essential

  • The best solutions emerge from our self-organizing teams and where we have teams working on positions, not just one person

  • Constantly reflect, tune, and adjust
